Common questions

What does Ember actually do for me?

It handles who does what, and when: it takes a goal years away, splits it into stages, this quarter and this week, and puts it on the calendar. Say something in passing and it writes it down, schedules it and reminds you. When something slips, or next week is still empty, it comes and asks.

What can I use without subscribing?

All the tracking, permanently — goals and stages, calendar check-ins, the family display, kids' login cards, and any number of children. A subscription unlocks Ember breaking down goals, planning and keeping watch. Your child's records stay yours and can be exported at any time.

What does a month usually cost?

For most families, just the subscription (A$7 at the founding rate). Ember's usage generally fits inside the 20,000 points included each month, so you rarely pay anything extra. Only heavy use — planning, revising and re-planning every day — occasionally needs a top-up.

How many points does one thing cost?

Saying a line to log or schedule something is about 100–150 points*; a few turns back and forth (asking it to plan a week, or re-plan a whole quarter) is about 350 points*. The 20,000 included each month covers daily use with room to spare.

Do unused points expire?

On a subscription they bank up, to a ceiling of 60,000 points. A quiet month leaves you better off the next one — useful when you need to re-plan a whole quarter or catch up on a batch of progress. On the free plan the monthly grant is for that month only and does not bank.

Could I be charged without realising?

No. Energy points are prepaid — like topping up a card, you only spend what you have already put in, and there is no end-of-month bill. You can turn on "top up $10 automatically when the balance runs low" so you aren't interrupted mid-task; it is off by default and can be cancelled at any time.

Is the founding half-price really for life?

Yes. The first 100 families to subscribe are locked at A$7 a month for life; later price changes won't apply to you. It's for the people who backed us early.

Why not just offer unlimited?

Honestly, every turn with Ember has a real cost. "Unlimited" usually ends up meaning quiet price rises, or quietly worse quality. Charging for what you actually use is what keeps everyday use close to free, without tying you to a package.

Do I have to pick an AI model?

No. There is one Ember, and we've configured the right model behind it. You just say what you need.

Can I try it before deciding?

Of course. First month free, no card required, with Ember fully open. After that it drops to the free plan (tracking carries on as normal), and you can subscribe whenever you want Ember back.

* Usage figures are measured estimates; a conversation is counted as one opening question plus three follow-ups. The "turns with Ember" above are all converted at the rate of a heavier operation, so in practice they tend to go further. Actual consumption varies with use; the app shows it in real time.

Start with one child's plan

Add your first child, say where you'd like them to get to, and Ember can lay out the line in minutes — the recording part is always free. Ember is fully open for the first month, no card required; decide after you've used it.
